Giorgio Moroder is the latest to join disco greats like Nile Rodgers and Cerrone to resurface after the renewed interest thanks to Daft Punk & Pharrell. The Italian legend lent his magic touch to Coldplay‘s recent single “Midnight” and turned it into a 9-minute intergalactic trip, complete with French-singing robot vocoders, violin strings and delicious synth sequencers. Leave it to the master to bring on good times.
STREAM: Coldplay – Midnight (Giorgio Moroder Remix)
You can check out the original, co-produced by Paul Epworth and Jon Hopkins, via its unintentionally hilarious video here.
Coldplay’s 6th album “Ghost Stories” drops on May 16.

The Italian disco figurehead Giorgio Moroder was languishing in the annals of music nerds’ record collections until Daft Punk gave his career another boost – now he seems to be everywhere, including, somewhat incongruously, on this nine-minute remix of Coldplay’s new single “Midnight.” It’s a great reinterpretation of the song, with the original’s folky, possibly conscious-uncoupling inspired moodiness translated into a dark dance-floor thump, perfect for raving your demons away just before closing time. Check it out – the original track appears on Coldplay’s Ghost Stories, out May 19th.

We’ve been saying two things throughout 2014 so far – this is unquestionably the year of Future Islands, and it might just also be the year of Little Daylight. We’ll see if we’re right on part 2 when the latter’s debut drops on Capitol this summer, but for now you can check out the bands’ very fitting collaboration, Future Islands’ remix of Little Daylight’s simmering “Overdose.” We’re digging their take on the song – amping up the original’s woozy haze to eleven, the guys chill it out from a fist-pumping electro festival banger into something more suited for the inevitable dawn comedown. Check it out.

a/jus/ted, a.k.a. Justin Strauss and Teddy Stewart (get it?), are producers and remixers who have been in the New York dance music game forever, but they’re making a huge wave this week with a remix for the very of-the-moment songwriter Dev Hynes, better known as Blood Orange – it’s their take on “Uncle Ace,” the heart-rendering ode to New York’s homeless LGBT kids from Hynes’ 2013 record Cupid Deluxe. The a/jus/ted remix stretches out over an exhilarating nine minutes into a serpentine late-night groove, with textured vocals and a moody vibe that perfectly fits the song’s oft-dark subject matter. Check it out.

We’ll admit that Disclosure and Sam Smith’s “Latch” has been remixed by every DJ in more than two continents, but if you’re open to indulging yourself one more, let it be this new remix from on-the-rise Norwegian producer/songwriter Lido.
It’s no longer surprising to see young producers hitching their star onto the overwhelmingly popular Lawrence brothers–recent PMA favorites Friend Within, Kidnap Kid and Gorgon City have all been hailed (but us, even) as “the next Disclosure.”
Remixing Disclosure well has become something of a rite of passage for incipient producers in 2014, and Lido absolutely nails it.

Love Lykke Li but have found her new material a bit dreary and sullen? Then you’ve got to check out Austrian duo Klangkarussel’s disco-y two-step remix of the normally sob-inducing “No Rest For The Wicked.” Now the song’s basically a Robyn song – you only need a lyrics sheet in front of you to cry.
Lykke Li’s I Never Learn is out May 6.

“Sights” is the new single from London Grammar, taken off their excellent debut album, If You Wait. The new single comes with an atmospheric remix from London-based producer Tourist. Watch out for that massive switch up halfway through the track.

Evian Christ, who co-produced Bruce Jenner’s favorite Yeezus track “I’m In It,” has been reportedly invited back to the studio to work on Kanye West’s “Born In The USA.”
“I’ve got to get home and write an Otis Redding–style beat for him,” Christ said in a recent interview. “[Kanye] e-mailed last night. He wants something that sounds a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep.” He also said, “Kanye is the one dude who’s like, ‘This is not experimental enough. This is too poppy. Make something else. The other guys are like, ‘We don’t get it.’”
Christ then confirmed what we were suspecting all along: “Kanye is a dream to work with. No one else gives you that level of creative freedom. When he wants you to work to a blueprint, the blueprint is: ‘Don’t make a rap beat. Anything but a rap beat.’”
While we wait for… Yeez-USA? Kan-USA? Christ has shared a new remix of Young Thug’s “Stoner,” and to our ears it sounds like a long lost Yeezus track. Listen below and download an mp3 here.

We’re sure that MØ and Goldroom are friends by now just because we’ve personally booked them both to play at two SXSW parties, so this makes perfect sense – Goldroom’s taken on probably our favorite MØ song “Don’t Wanna Dance” for a new remix that’ll probably make you want to dance even if the person you want to dance with isn’t around. It’s pretty much irresistible – we love MØ’s original, but Goldroom’s clubby, Balearic groove suits the song just as well. Check it out.

The EDM elite are really coming out in support of Duck Sauce’s new single, “NRG.” Already remixed by the likes of Skrillex, Kill the Noise and Milo & Otis, Kanye West’s favorite DJ Hudson Mohawke gets his grubby, banger-bending hands on the track. Give his effort a listen below:
And here’s the radio edit of the original:
“NRG” is taken from Duck Sauce’s new album, Quack, which isn’t out until April 15 but is streaming in full over here.
